About the scholarship

The Governing Council and Management of Grooming People for Better Livelihood Centre (Grooming Centre), a leading Microfinance Institution in Nigeria, are pleased to announce the 2025 Grooming Centre University Grant Scheme. The aim of the scheme, which is the seventh in the series, is to catalyze research and knowledge development in the areas of financial inclusion, microfinance, rural development, social enterprise, MSMEs, technological development, digital finance, youth in development, women in development or any other research that is aimed at lifting people out of poverty.

Eligibility

Requirements for the Grooming Center Scholarship Grant:

• The candidate must be an undergraduate or graduate student at a Nigerian university whose research focuses on any of the following topics: women in development, financial inclusion, microfinance, rural development, social enterprise, MSMEs, technological development, or any other research that aims to help people escape poverty.
• The research study’s focus must be applicable to the Nigerian setting, innovative, and practical. It should also be able to advance any of the aforementioned areas of interest in the Nigerian market.
• The candidate must be enrolled in a Nigerian university or polytechnic that has received NUC/NBTE approval.
• A written and signed recommendation from the applicant’s project supervisor is required.
• High levels of innovation, creative thinking, and data inclusivity are required of the research.
• There are no restrictions on application based on age, gender, religion, or ethnicity.
