About the scholarship
The WomanUp Programme aims to produce a generation of outstanding women who will flourish in their studies and future occupations, so moving us closer to attaining gender equality. The WomanUp Scholarship 2025 covers: Full university tuition fees are paid straight to the university’s bank account each year for four years. The stipend is 100,000 Naira per semester. 50,000 Naira will pay the cost of departmental and faculty registration. Fees and stipends for the following year will not be paid unless evidence of outstanding academic performance in the preceding year is shown. Members of the cohort will receive a monthly internet connection, allowing them to study, work remotely part-time, and attend monthly coaching or check-in meetings without restriction. Each cohort will receive dedicated coaching to ensure that they not only thrive academically but also professionally and as leaders. Members of the cohort will receive funding to attend conferences, particularly if they are presenting a paper. Opportunities for them to work part-time (10 hours a week) virtually so that they can add employment experience to their CV after graduation. Pre-graduation assistance, including help with postgraduate study and scholarship applications to prestigious universities abroad. Members of the cohort who graduate with a First Class and choose to apply to the University of Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, Yale, or other IVY league universities will be reimbursed for their application fees. Members of the cohort who graduate with great grades and have a good possibility of receiving foreign scholarships or fellowships will have their international passport application fees covered. This also applies to cohort members who, at any point during their studies, get a travel grant to present a paper at an international conference. Monthly coaching sessions for in-demand professional skills like grant writing, CV writing, cover letter writing, fellowship applications, and postgraduate study. Invitations to major professional events and recommendations for top mentors in their sector. Workshops will be offered to teach members of the cohort how to generate company concepts based on their areas of expertise. Lifetime membership in The Mkpouto Pius Foundation, with additional advantages. The WomanUp Scholarship allows candidates to participate in career development activities such as attending conferences, pursuing fellowships, publishing papers, and so on.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Mkpouto Pius Foundation WomanUp Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Be a Female.
- Be a Nigerian.
- Be recently admitted to study in a Nigerian public university (only for females looking to start their first year of university).
- Demonstrate academic excellence.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Be willing to fill in monthly reports and attend monthly check-in sessions.
- Be willing to attend mentoring events.
- Be ready to participate in career development opportunities like attending conferences, taking up fellowships, publishing papers, etc.
