Senior Legal Counsel, LA

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team in Lagos, Nigeria. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice and support across all aspects of the company's operations, with a particular focus on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead negotiations with business partners, contractors, and stakeholders on complex commercial transactions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, financing documents, acquisition and divestment agreements, and other legal contracts.
• Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and operational matters affecting the business.
• Manage the company's litigation portfolio and coordinate with external legal counsel on dispute resolution matters.
• Represent the company in engagements with regulatory agencies, government institutions, and law enforcement authorities.
• Conduct legal research and provide practical recommendations on emerging legal and regulatory issues.
• Support corporate governance activities, including Board and committee meetings, minutes, and corporate documentation.
• Prepare and file statutory documents with regulatory authorities, including the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting the energy sector and advise management on compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain legal templates, precedents, and knowledge management resources.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate legal risks and support business objectives.
• Perform other legal duties as assigned by the Head of Legal.
