Head, Legal & Compliance

The Head, Legal & Compliance is accountable for leading and overseeing the entire legal and compliance function at Hyde Energy Limited. The role involves providing expert legal advice to executives, the Board, and staff; supervising legal affairs and strategic projects; managing external counsel; and ensuring strong corporate governance and regulatory compliance across the business.

The role also manages the impact of external legal and regulatory factors including contractual matters, litigation, taxation policies, and industry-specific regulations, particularly within the Nigerian oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice to executive management and the Board

• Lead and manage the company’s legal and compliance functions

• Supervise all legal affairs, transactions, and legal-related projects

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage complex commercial and oil & gas contracts

• Set and enforce internal corporate governance policies and frameworks

• Manage litigation, disputes, and engagement with regulators

• Oversee and coordinate all external legal counsel and advisors

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and industry-specific requirements

• Advise on taxation policies, regulatory risks, and contractual exposure

• Support business strategy with sound legal and risk-management insight
