Senior Legal Counsel

HBM Nigeria Plc is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to provide legal support across its business operations, with a strong focus on litigation, commercial contracts, legal risk, compliance and dispute resolution. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the management of lawsuits, pre-litigation claims, regulatory claims and inquiries.
• Provide legal advice to business units and senior management.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and procurement contracts.
• Advise on legal, regulatory and compliance risks.
• Manage claims, disputes, negotiations, mediation and arbitration.
• Coordinate external law firms and legal counsel.
• Support permits and licences required for plant operations.
• Conduct legal risk assessments and provide recommendations.
• Advise on corporate governance, competition law, labour law and other commercial matters.
• Manage the company's contract management system.
• Support legal compliance training and implementation of the Code of Business Conduct.
• Conduct due diligence for commercial transactions.
