- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive legal and compliance frameworks tailored to the FinTech and digital asset industry in Africa.
- Monitor and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, advising internal stakeholders on potential impacts and necessary adjustments.
- Ensure Divest's products, services, and operations comply with all applicable local and international regulations (e.g., AML, KYC, data privacy).
- Manage regulatory filings, licensing, and reporting requirements.
- Provide legal counsel and guidance on business initiatives, product development, and operational matters.
- Conduct internal compliance training and foster a culture of regulatory adherence across the organization.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and external legal counsel.
- Identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks associated with Divest's operations and expansion.
Requirements
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diplomas) are a strong plus.
- Proven mid-level experience (typically 5+ years) in legal and compliance roles, preferably within the FinTech, banking, or digital asset sectors.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, anti-money laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC) principles, and data privacy laws relevant to the African market.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business solutions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- High ethical standards and a strong commitment to integrity.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
