Annual Essay Competition

• Word Limit and Formatting: Min. 2,000 words, Max. 3,000 words (excl. footnotes & abstract). Footnotes only (OSCOLA citation style). Word document must be Times New Roman 12pt, with 1.5 spacing.
• Open to current undergraduate law students from any UK university.
• Submissions must answer either one of the essay questions provided on the first page.
• The cover email must include a statement that the essay is entirely your own, except where otherwise indicated by citations, and a statement of the word count (excl. footnotes & abstract).
• Email ooulj@law.ox.ac.UK with the subject line “OUULJ Essay Competition 2026”
