Job Description

Job Summary

  • The Legal Officer (Litigation) will be responsible for managing and coordinating all company litigation matters, providing legal support and advice on disputes, and ensuring full compliance with relevant laws and fintech regulations.
  • The ideal candidate must possess solid litigation experience and a good understanding of the fintech industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all company-related litigation matters and court proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and file court processes, legal correspondence, and other documentation.
  • Liaise with external solicitors and relevant government or regulatory agencies.
  • Provide legal opinions and advisory support on company operations, disputes, and risk management.
  • Support compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to CBN, NDIC, NIBSS, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor and maintain a litigation tracker for all ongoing and closed cases.
  • Represent the company in law enforcement and regulatory proceedings.
  • Assist in dispute resolution processes, including mediation and arbitration.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify and mitigate legal risks.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized institution.
  • Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL) – mandatory.
  • 3–5 years post-call experience, with at least 2 years in active litigation.
  • Experience in Fintech, Banking, or Financial Services is a strong advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of Nigerian laws, court procedures, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong research, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple matters simultaneously.
