Job Summary

The Legal Officer will provide legal support to the organization, ensuring that all operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role involves handling legal documentation, advising management on legal risks, supporting credit recovery processes, and representing the institution when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and guidance to management on regulatory, operational, and contractual matters.
• Draft, review, and vet legal documents including contracts, agreements, policies, and memos.
• Support the credit and recovery teams in loan recovery processes and legal actions where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements governing Microfinance Institutions.
• Represent the organization in legal proceedings, negotiations, and dispute resolution when required.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, external solicitors, and relevant stakeholders on legal matters.
• Conduct legal research and provide opinions on emerging legal and regulatory issues affecting the institution.
• Maintain proper documentation and records of all legal matters.
