If selected for the award, you will receive full funding that will cover the cost of your tuition, and a stipend of $53,608 every year till the end of your program.
The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) provides block grants to higher education providers (HEPs) to support both domestic and overseas students undertaking research doctorate and research masters degrees.
Funding is provided on a calendar year basis for programs known as higher degrees by research (HDRs).
The objectives of the RTP are to:
- provide flexible funding arrangements to support training domestic students and overseas students undertaking HDRs at Australian HEPs

- support collaboration between HEPs and industry and other research end-users.
The Australian Government RTP Scholarship covers:
- tuition fees offset
- a stipend for general living costs worth $52,352
- allowances related to the ancillary cost of HDRs.
The RTP base and maximum stipend rates are indexed each year, effective from 1 January. The base and maximum RTP stipend rates for the following year are announced by 1 October each year.
