About the scholarship

The Government of China is inviting international students to apply for the Shanghai Government Scholarship.

The 2026 Shanghai Government Scholarship as offered by the Chinese universities for prospective undergraduate, and postgraduate applicants, will cover the full tuition of applicants, accommodation, and a living allowance of ¥4000 per month.

The Shanghai Municipal People’s Government established the Shanghai Government Scholarship for Foreign Students (hereinafter referred to as the “Scholarship”) in 2006 to support outstanding foreign students to study in Shanghai.

The scholarship was established in order to serve Shanghai’s construction of a science and technology innovation center with global influence, further promote international cooperation and exchanges in Shanghai’s education, and attract outstanding students and scholars from various countries to study and research in Shanghai.

Eligibility

• be non-Chinese citizens
• be in good health.
• have performed both academically and behaviorally.
• meet the admission requirements of the major applied for
• meet the Chinese language proficiency requirements of the major applied.
• Applicants for pre-college program must have high school diploma and be under 23.
• Applicants for undergraduate program must have high school diploma and be under 25.
