- Preparing, typing, formatting, proofreading, and filing legal documents, letters, agreements, contracts, reports, minutes, and official correspondence.
- Maintaining and organizing legal files, contracts, agreements, company documents, and confidential records.
- Assisting with the preparation and review of routine legal correspondence and documentation.
- Maintaining an effective filing and document retrieval system for legal and corporate records.
- Liaising with external lawyers, legal consultants, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and other official organizations when required.
- Scheduling meetings, appointments, hearings, and other legal or management engagements.
- Preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, and circulating relevant documents where required.
- Managing incoming and outgoing legal correspondence and ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding matters.
- Maintaining a register of contracts, agreements, legal documents, and important deadlines.
- Assisting in tracking contract renewal dates, statutory deadlines, court dates, and other important legal timelines.
- Conducting basic legal research and gathering information as directed by the supervising lawyer or management.
- Ensuring that legal and corporate documents are properly stored, updated, and readily accessible.
- Handling confidential information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
- Providing general administrative and secretarial support to the legal function and management.
- Performing other duties as may reasonably be assigned.
Requirements
Requirements
- A minimum of Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualification in Law.
- Prior experience as a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant or Office Secretary.
- Good knowledge of legal documentation, contracts, agreements, correspondence, and filing systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, email management, and document formatting.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive legal and company information.
- Strong organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent typing, proofreading, and document preparation skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work with minimal supervision.
- Professional appearance, good interpersonal skills, and a high level of integrity.
- Knowledge of basic Nigerian legal and regulatory procedures will be an added advantage.
