Brazil Government Scholarships

Applications for the 2026 Brazil Government Scholarships Postgraduate Student Agreement Program (PEC-PG) are currently ongoing. The PEC-PG is managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) (coordinating bodies). It functions as an international cooperation initiative, attracting foreigners to Brazil and encouraging the exchange of knowledge between partner countries, while also benefiting Brazilian institutions through the contact of Brazilian students and faculty with qualified researchers working abroad.

To be eligible for the Brazil Government Scholarships, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Be nationals of partner countries in the PEC-PG cooperation agreement.
• Apply for Full Master’s, Full Doctorate, or Sandwich Doctorate programs at Brazilian higher education institutions (HEIs).
• Submit required documents and meet the academic standards outlined in the program’s official notice.
• Commit to the program rules, as registration automatically implies acceptance of the conditions.
• This program is particularly ideal for talented international students seeking advanced degrees while engaging in cultural and academic exchange.
• Modalities: Full Doctorate in Brazil, Sandwich Doctorate in Brazil, Full Master’s Degree in Brazil.
• Benefits: Monthly fee, Health insurance assistance, Passage from Brazil to abroad (financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
• Duration of scholarships: Sandwich Doctorate: between 6 (six) and 10 (ten) months; Full Doctorate: up to 48 (forty-eight) months; Full Master’s Degree: up to 24 (twenty-four) months.
