Job Description
Petromech is looking for an experienced Company Lawyer / Legal Adviser to provide in-house legal support across the company's commercial, corporate, regulatory and operational activities.
The role combines legal advisory responsibilities with executive-level support, with a strong focus on contracts, corporate governance, compliance, intellectual property and dispute resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial, employment and licensing agreements.
- Advise on corporate governance, compliance, policies and procedures.
- Handle intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyright.
- Manage litigation and dispute-resolution matters.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the company.
- Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
- Work with departmental heads to provide strategic legal support.
- Advise on business establishment and corporate restructuring.
- Support contract management and compliance.
- Advise on data protection, tax and other relevant legal matters.
- Liaise with government agencies and parastatals on regulatory licences, including NAFDAC, SON, MANCAP and NMDPR.
- Draft and review legal documents such as contracts, NDAs and MOUs.

- LL.B degree.
- 5–7 years' relevant experience in corporate law, intellectual property law or a related field.
- Strong experience in legal research, analysis and business-focused legal advisory.
- Contract drafting and negotiation experience.
- Dispute-resolution experience.
- Strong understanding of the Nigerian legal environment.
- Experience in business establishment, contract management, corporate governance, compliance, data protection, litigation, restructuring & insolvency, and tax.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate complex legal issues to non-lawyers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong discretion and ability to handle confidential matters.
