Job Description

The Legal Officer will play a crucial role in reviewing and drafting commercial contracts, including but not limited to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with banks, switches, micro-finance banks, Other Financial Institutions (OFIs), etc. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in the banking or fintech industry, particularly in reviewing and drafting commercial contracts.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and review relevant laws and regulations
  • Analyze legal issues and develop strategies to resolve them
  • Draft, review and negotiate all types of commercial contracts and other legal documents
  • Provide legal advice, guidance and recommendations to the Company on various matters
  • Monitor legal developments and advise on the implications for the organization
  • Liaise with external counsels, LEAs and regulatory bodies when required
  • Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures
  • Maintain records of all legal documents and data
  • Minute writing

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law. A Master’s degree in Business & Commercial Law or other relevant certifications will be advantageous
  • Core experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing SLAs, contracts with banks, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience, with at least three (3) years focused on reviewing and drafting commercial contracts
  • Strong knowledge of commercial law, corporate law, and fintech regulations
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing)
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with a strategic approach to risk assessment and management
  • Proficiency in legal research and Microsoft Office Suite
