Job Description

Job Summary

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) invites applications from qualified and motivated legal professionals for the position of Legal Officer in the Directorate of Legal Services. The ideal candidate will provide essential legal support to the Party’s leadership and directorates, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, Party regulations, and electoral guidelines. This role demands a proactive individual with strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle legal matters efficiently within a fast-paced political environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, review, and interpretation of legal documents, contracts, and memoranda.
  • Support the Director of Legal Services in providing legal advice to the Party’s leadership and organs.
  • Conduct legal research on constitutional, electoral, and administrative issues relevant to Party activities.
  • Participate in the drafting and review of Party policies, rules, and guidelines to ensure compliance with the law.
  • Support the coordination and management of litigation involving the Party across various jurisdictions.
  • Liaise with external solicitors, regulatory bodies, and relevant government agencies on legal matters affecting the Party.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in political, electoral, and constitutional law.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to minimize legal risks.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, and correspondence for internal and external use.
  • Provide general legal support to Party programs, meetings, and official engagements.

  • A suitable candidate must possess a minimum of an LLB or BL and a minimum of 3 years of career experience in a similar position.
