Job Description

Job Summary:

To provide legal guidance and support to ensure the organization operates within the law, meets regulatory requirements, and effectively manages legal risks. The Legal Officer will draft, review, and negotiate contracts, advise on legal matters, and support compliance initiatives. Collaborate with external legal advisors where necessary. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Legal Advisory & Risk Management:
  • Provide legal advice to management and departments on various business issues. 
  • Identify and mitigate potential legal risks to the business. 
  • Support dispute resolution and litigation processes. 
  1. Contracts & Documentation:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and MOUs. 
  • Ensure contracts are legally sound and protect the company’s interests.
  1. Compliance & Regulatory Affairs:
  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. 
  • Maintain awareness of changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization. 
  • Support internal audits and regulatory inspections as required. 
  1. Corporate Governance:
  • Support governance structures and board-related matters. 
  • Maintain statutory registers and corporate filings in compliance with relevant regulations. 
  1. Training & Awareness:
  • Conduct legal and compliance training for employees. 
  • Promote a culture of ethical business conduct and compliance.

Requirements

Requirements:

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized institution. 
  • Barrister-at-Law (B.L) and called to the bar. 
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., corporate governance, compliance) is an advantage. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ post-call legal experience, preferably in corporate or commercial law. 
  • Experience in compliance and risk management preferred. 
  • Proven track record in contract negotiation and dispute resolution. 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and labor laws. 
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills. 
  • High ethical standards and integrity. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
