Job Summary

• Our client, a reputable mid-sized law firm in Lagos, Nigeria, is seeking an experienced and versatile Lawyer with a minimum of five (5) years post-call experience in Litigation and General Commercial Law Practice.
• The ideal candidate will be capable of managing case files independently, representing clients effectively in court, and delivering high-quality legal advisory services across a broad range of commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in court, arbitration, and other dispute resolution forums.
• Draft, review, and file court processes, contracts, and other legal documents.
• Provide legal opinions and advisory services on corporate and commercial transactions.
• Conduct research to support litigation, advisory, and transactional matters.
• Attend and actively participate in client meetings and strategy sessions.
• Manage litigation timelines, case files, and ensure effective case progression.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to client relationship management and assist in business development efforts.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates when required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognized university.
• Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L) with a valid practicing license.
• Minimum of five (5) years post-call experience in active litigation and general commercial law practice.
• Solid courtroom advocacy and case management skills.
• Strong knowledge of commercial law, contract drafting, and dispute resolution.
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and research skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and in a team.

Preferred Attributes:

• Prior experience in handling commercial litigation and arbitration.
• Exposure to corporate/commercial transactions beyond litigation.
• Good client management and networking skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
