About the Scholarship

The Commonwealth PhD Scholarship, administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), is a fully funded program supporting doctoral research at UK universities for candidates from least developed and fragile Commonwealth countries. Covering full tuition, a living stipend (approximately £1,347 per month in 2025/26), return flights, and research grants, the scholarship enables scholars to pursue high-impact research in fields like health, education, climate change, and technology. The program aims to foster academic excellence, build global research networks, and empower scholars to address pressing development challenges in their home countries, aligning with the CSC’s mission to promote sustainable development.

Scholars benefit from studying at world-class UK universities, with access to advanced research facilities, expert supervision, and interdisciplinary collaborations. The program includes professional development opportunities, such as workshops, conferences, and networking events with Commonwealth scholars and alumni. Recipients are expected to return to their home countries post-study to apply their research, contributing to national priorities like poverty reduction and environmental sustainability. The Commonwealth PhD Scholarship is ideal for researchers committed to creating transformative change through rigorous, development-focused research in a supportive academic environment.
